EA’s projects have won the most prestigious green building awards nationally (USGBC Platinum) and locally (Austin GBP 5 Star) several times over, including the first Certified LEED home in the Texas Hill Country (in Hunt) and the first Houston entity to complete a Certified LEED Platinum project anywhere on the planet: a double award LEED/5 Star home in Austin, Texas. In addition to a long list of accomplishments and awards, founder LaVerne Williams’s design of “Houston’s Passive Solar Demonstration Home,” toured by more than 30,000 people in 1979-80, launched the Texas green building movement. His work also influenced the crafting of the nation’s original green building program for Austin, now considered the international prototype.
